Location : Dallas, Texas
Year : 1997
Used, Lotus Esprit RARE find... Twin Turbo V8 - 1 of only 132 that were imported into the US... WOW The Lotus Esprit (es-pree) is a sports car that was built by Lotus in the United Kingdom between 1976 and 2004. Question 10 enthusiasts about the most important quality in a high-performance sports car, and you will, of course, get 20 different answers. A high-revving multivalve engine. Turbocharged or supercharged. With the engine in the middle, Precise steering, Big brakes, Big tires, Sleek, Balanced, Fun, and a low price would be nice. This Lotus twin-turbocharged Esprit will give you all of the above including the low price. This car is the 1997 Year model that carries the highest rating in consumer ratings at 9.7 according to MSN Autos. It is considered a Big Bang for the buck! The deep, throaty growl of the Esprit's eight cylinders lets you hear the power as they launch the car to 60 mph in just 4.4 sec, and it's more than a half-second quicker to 60 mph than the Ferrari F355. The Esprit V8 used Lotus' self-developed all-aluminum, twin-turbocharged (Garrett T3/60 turbos) 90-degree V-8, Code-named Type 918, in front of the same Renault transmission as before with no Chargecooler. Derek Bell developed an uprated gearbox that overcame a lot of the gearbox problems with a much thicker single piece input shaft. The Type 918 engine was detuned from a potential 500 bhp (373 kW; 507 PS) to 350 bhp (261 kW; 355 PS) to prevent gearbox damage due to the fragility of the Renault UN-1 transmission. Where it is currently tuned gives tremendous power and quickness and with these low miles it makes this car a devine buy! Where else can you get the European design and build that carries the sports car enthusiast badge as well as the race car feel and look at such a low price tag? You Cant... Priced to move quickly this one wont last long at this price so call quick before someone else is tooling around in the car that you thought might be yours...
